Namir Faidi Review: It is difficult to find a film that can compare to the magnum opus films of the past, that is until the creation of There Will Be Blood. When a person can view a picture for more than ten minutes with absolutely no dialog and be utterly entranced by every second of it, there’s something exceptional about that, says the critic Namir Faidi. One of this film’s directors, Paul Thomas Anderson’s treasured films is The Treasure of Sierra Madre and anyone who has seen it knows why, and can absolutely observe the affect in the film. They also may understand why this director does not crank out films continually, movie project are chosen cautiously and in time. In my opinion this is one of the most stunning tales of greed and success caught on celluloid, this movie is a true gem for cinema enthusiasts and should be prized as such. One of the best things about the film is its lack of appeal to the bulk public and standardized movie going consumers. Going back to the Western style of movie makingWestern approach to movie making this picture is overflowing with spectacular scenery shots long awe-inspiring  views of the USA and evokes a lusty emotion of determination and opportunity. It’s no surprise this is an Oscar winner for best Cinematography, one of the most qualified awards is in recent memory.  Loosely based on Upton Sinclair’s book Oil! this movie is about the oil boom in the late 1800′sthe oil craze in the later 1800′s) and a man who chose to make profit on it. A huge aspect in the flick apart from the breathtaking cinematography work and shot selection is the musical score, those two superior things set the voice for the complete film. The movie would not be as good as it is without a frightening musical score by Johnny Greenwood, guitarist from the band Radiohead, it too should have picked up an Oscar but unfortunately and strangely the music was all recorded prior to the movie was produced. Something that can’t be explained in written word and would be a job unto itself in person would be to start to dissect the unmatched performance, to be matched with that of Jack Nicholson or Marlon Brando in their most successful day, of Daniel Day Lewis, who also won an Oscar for the film. There Will Be Blood is certain to become a bench mark flick. If you do not have access to a darkened theater with a film projector, which the best way to enjoy this movie, make sure you at least watch it on Blu-Ray with a Hi-Def TV and have a good sound system, you would otherwise be doing yourself an injustice.
