It is no secret that the executive producers of the ABC hit series “LOST” is a big fan of the master storyteller, Stephen King. With the last season of LOST, the influence of Mr. King’s writings to the producers are getting more and more obvious.. and BTW, I myself is a fan of both the show and Stephen King.
From the early seasons of LOST we can see the how the producers flauntingly show their admiration to Mr. King. Remeber the book club in the ‘other’s camp? I’m pretty sure you noticed that Juliet was holding a hard bound copy of Mr. King’s Desperation. I should know, I have the same book and the same blue cover.
LOST’s season 6 will be wrapping up the whole story of the series. All the mysteries will be disclosed. All the questions will be answered and most importantly the end will be told. Many are wondering what could be the end story for LOST? I sure hope that it’s not the same as the much awaited ending of the Dark Tower series… I completely hated that ending… Imagine and ending of LOST where in all the castaway will be castaways all over again?
With that said, another connection with the books of Mr. King is in the two alternate realities, which is the main story line of season 6, I think. Instantly I see The Wastelands. This is the 3rd Dark Tower book where in Jake was dead and alive at the same time. It almost made him crazy. The getting crazy part is not (yet) in LOST but I’m pretty sure it will come.
“The Stand” is the latest connection from Stephen King that I noticed. When the woman, the one who Jacob ‘recruit’, said that the “Man in Black” (oopss, there’s a connection all by itself) is recruiting, “The Stand” stood up like a sore thumb.
Anyway, with all these connections between LOST and Stephen King, I am loving every last episode of the show. I am sure that all Stephen King fans who are following the ending of LOST are aware of these connections. Also, I am sure that those who are fans of LOST who are not with Stephen King, will soon realize that they must back read and grab as much books by Mr. King as they can to appreciate the mind of the master story teller.
