Smallville season 9 episode 7 is the first time we ever saw Kal-El’s father.. well at least the older one compared to the 1950s Jor-El.
This Smallville episode is the one that explains how the clone of Jor-El, Zod and other soldiers from Kandor came to be before Tess release them from the Orb.
It’s a race against time to find Jor-El when Clark realizes that he is on Earth and Zod realizes that he could hold the key to their powers. Chloe is the first to meet him, while Zod enlists Tess.
In this episode, Tess finally confirmed that Kal-El is Clark Kent. How? Well, Clark found out that Jor-El was captured by a number of soldiers and he knows that those are Tess’ men. He confronts Tess to show him where his “father’ was, while holding her 2 feet above the ground gripping neck. 
The clone Jor-El soon died in CK’s arm.
